First, let’s take a moment to pause and reflect on the significance of today’s anniversary and those who fight and have fought to protect our freedom.

Google’s ebookstore, eBooks, is officially here!  Now you can access more than three million books (the world’s largest selection, according to the company) from any web-enabled device. Perhaps the best part is the availability of out of circulation classics.  Have you embraced electronic books yet?  If you’re skeptical, there are many books available for free.  Try it out and let me know your thoughts!

‘Tis the season for full disclosure?  If you want to share more information on your Facebook page, you are going to welcome the new profile pages which allow users to reveal more details (classes taken in school/favorite sports teams), display photos and highlight friends.  Some are drawing uncanny similarities with LinkedIn’s set up…

Is Foursquare coming to the small screen?  It signed an agreement with a production company to create a new series and although details are still unknown, the company said the app will be “meaningfully integrated” into a show.  It may give shooting “on-location” a whole new meaning.

What were people searching for in 2010?  According to Yahoo!’s annual report, Miley Cyrus, the World Cup and BP were among the top search terms during this Chinese “Year of the Tiger.”  In a related story, Tiger Woods did not make the top ten.  Kim Kardashian, who finished fourth on the Yahoo list, was tops on the Bing list and Tiger did grab the number four slot there.

If anyone in your household is hoping to catch a glimpse of Kris Kringle in action, visit noradsanta.org.  Google has partnered with NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, to track Santa and his reindeer in real-time using Google Maps.  What happened to listening for footsteps on the roof?  Maybe Father Christmas should use Gowalla 3.0, the latest version of the location-based service which syndicates check-ins from the four major location networks.
