In my last post “5 Habits of Highly Productive Real Estate Agents<\/a>“<\/em>, we explored techniques designed to\u00a0improve\u00a0your efficiency and boost your productivity. With the many distractions that plague our day, I often wonder how\u00a0real estate agents are productive<\/strong>\u00a0at all.\u00a0\u00a0Creating habits<\/strong>\u00a0that produce consistent results will allow you to focus on those top priority, money making activities.<\/p>\n

There is no use wasting your time on a trivial task when a much more important one can be accomplished. \u00a0Just remember,\u00a0becoming a\u00a0highly productive real estate agent<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is an ongoing process and will not happen overnight. \u00a0Commit to tasks that you can and will accomplish and then build over time.<\/p>\n

5 More Productivity Habits<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Get Some Exercise<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Getting up out of your chair and moving around is a tip all successful real estate professionals practice.\u00a0 They understand that exercise is great for the brain and the body.\u00a0 Commit to at least 30 minutes a few times per week whether it\u2019s a walk up and down the block or a jog around your local gym.<\/p>\n

As Nike says \u2026\u201dJust Do It!\u201d<\/p>\n

2. Use Technology that Makes Your Life Easier<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Technology can swamp us, leaving us mired in a mess of systems; tools and programs that bog us down rather then promote productivity.\u00a0 Incorporate only what works and shut everything else down.\u00a0 Jumping from one system to the next only creates confusion and lag time between tasks.<\/p>\n

Find a system that automates daily duties and tasks that you repeat time and again.\u00a0 Go through your computer and delete what\u2019s not needed.\u00a0 I\u2019m certain you will find at least 3-4 programs that looked attractive, but provided less then stellar results.\u00a0 Find those and DELETE them.\u00a0 Go on.\u00a0 I\u2019ll wait.\u00a0 Do it now.<\/p>\n

3. Speed Things Up<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Working at a faster pace does not equal a productive day in less time, but focusing on your high payoff tasks at a quicker pace can.\u00a0 Rather then dragging your feet and bouncing from one task to the next, time yourself to see how long it truly takes you to complete any one item.<\/p>\n

Again, it\u2019s about eliminating your distractions.\u00a0 Shut it off, shut it down and stay focused on what matters most.<\/p>\n

4. Work at Your Most Productive Time<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If you know you\u2019re an early bird, get out of bed and get yourself going. Don\u2019t spend time making your coffee, talking to friends or checking out the entertainment column in US Today.<\/p>\n

Likewise, if you\u2019re a night owl, then schedule your non-phone based tasks around that time of the evening.<\/p>\n

Find the most optimal time when you\u2019re alert and eager to \u201ctake on the day.\u201d\u00a0 Obviously night owls will struggle with completing many tasks at night since real estate is still a relationship business.\u00a0 However, there are many tasks associated with our job that require the computer and paperwork.<\/p>\n

5. Try New Techniques<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Changing up patterns or techniques can boost productivity.\u00a0 I know it sounds strange since it would seem that creating structure and systems would make us more productive.\u00a0 There are those times though when our techniques have become antiquated and there are better ways to manage your business.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be afraid to experiment, but limit yourself to one at a time.\u00a0 This goes back to #2 and using technology wisely.\u00a0 Productivity can only be achieved through consistent habits and a willingness to eliminate the \u201cnoise\u201d that surrounds you.\u00a0 Work on that and you\u2019ve won half the battle!<\/p>\n
