Thirty years ago<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>PC was born<\/span><\/a>. It is truly amazing to look back at all of the <\/span>innovations<\/span><\/a> of the past three decades, knowing that the future is full of possibilities!\u00a0 We have come a long way since 64 kilobytes of memory.\u00a0 What was your first PC? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you like to go by a nickname, you are out of luck on <\/span>Google+,<\/span><\/a> at least for now. The newly launched social networking site has banned the use of pseudonyms and nicknames in place of real names, <\/span>according to Mashable<\/span><\/a>. The policy is \u201cdesigned to fight spam and prevent the creation of fake profiles.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After utilizing user\u2019s names and information in ads, <\/span>LinkedIn<\/span><\/a> found itself in the harsh privacy light last week. The site was allowing <\/span>third-parties to use the information<\/span><\/a> in ads and its partners to target users based on information in their profiles. At the same time, Facebook announced it is now allowing advertisers to <\/span>target users based on zip codes.<\/span><\/a> Where do you think the line should be drawn in terms of social advertising? \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking of Facebook, have you downloaded its new <\/span>messenger iOS app<\/span><\/a>? The app provides <\/span>\u201cone-click access<\/span><\/a> to messages that are delivered through notifications and text.\u201d It\u2019s already a big hit and some think it may replace the need for traditional smart phone texting. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As much of America is suffering under a heat spell, <\/span>Southwest<\/span><\/a> has been inspired to create a \u201ccool\u201d campaign. In one of the airline\u2019s hubs, Atlanta, Southwest has implemented the <\/span>\u201cRandom Acts of Coolness\u201d campaign<\/span><\/a>, low-key efforts at schools, public pools, and police and fire stations in which teams of people distribute treats, ice pops and bottles of water to teachers, firefighters, police officers and others. I admire how they are making a splash.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Do you want to avoid <\/span>\u201csearch overload?\u201d<\/span><\/a> The advertisers at Bing may be on to something with their slogan. According to new data, Microsoft\u2019s decision engine Bing is better in terms of <\/span>search effectiveness<\/span><\/a> than its monster search engine rival Google, as measured by the <\/span>percentage of search queries that result in a visit to a website.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 Do you prefer more or less search results?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
