While 4th<\/sup> of July week usually send lots of eyes to the skies in search of spectacular fireworks shows, in Arizona, Mother Nature took center stage.\u00a0 Haboobs <\/a>— or severe sand storms \u2013 darkened the midday skies over Phoenix<\/a> and extended 100 miles wide.\u00a0 The images<\/a> coming out of the Grand Canyon state looked more like something created in a Hollywood movie studio than a real-world event.\u00a0 Thankfully, no deaths or serious injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

A dust-up of another kind may be looming.\u00a0 The real estate industry is feverishly discussing the impending change in October to the size of loans eligible<\/a> for government backing.\u00a0 CNBC\u2019s Diana Olick<\/a> investigated two conflicting reports on the impact of such modifications: one from the National Association of Home Buyers<\/a> that suggests these limits will reduce demand and lower prices; the other from George Washington University<\/a> that states that overall, mortgage shoppers will not be affected. \u00a0What do you think?<\/p>\n

Move over Brangelina and TomKat, we may soon have \u201cFandie.\u201d\u00a0 The California Legislature is introducing a bill to merge Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, <\/a>into a joint entity that will \u201cpurchase mortgages and sell them to investors as securities that are government-backed.\u201d<\/p>\n

A day after saying during Wednesday\u2019s Twitter town hall that he was \u201cgoing back to the drawing board\u201d<\/a> to help struggling homeowners, President Obama<\/a> announced two programs for unemployed homeowners, providing them a 12-month forbearance on their mortgages.<\/p>\n
