This week, the Home Affordable Refinance Program<\/a>, which allows homeowners to refinance upside down mortgages<\/a>, was extended another year. \u00a0Republicans in the House of Representatives voted to end the Emergency Homeowners\u2019 Loan Program<\/a>, an unemployment-assistance measure which technically has not even begun!\u00a0 The move is part of an effort to cut costs in government.<\/p>\n

Realistically, no matter how much we look to cut costs in our household budget, most of us will never be ranked on Forbes’ richest people list<\/a>.\u00a0 But, with the help of Curbed,<\/a> we can see how they live.\u00a0 The site looks at the \u201cpower pads\u201d<\/a> of the 10 richest people in the world. \u00a0From a home with a Mercedes parked in the living room<\/a> to a 27-story private home, nothing is out of the question for these home owners!\u00a0 Which is your favorite?<\/p>\n

New Urbanism<\/a>, or the shift to \u201csmaller, urban-style, walkable communities,\u201d may not be happening as fast as some may have hoped<\/a>. \u00a0In Forbes<\/a>, Joel Kotkin analyzes Census data and concludes growth in America\u2019s cities has slowed because a growing number of jobs located outside of cities has dispersed suburban living.<\/p>\n
