Smith \u2013 met in Washington  D.C., at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.treas.gov\/press\/releases\/tg826.htm\">Conference on the Future of Housing Finance<\/a>.\u00a0 The conference included forum discussion on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.housingwatch.com\/2010\/08\/16\/obama-conference-on-housing-finance-serving-substance-or-softba\/\">housing finance reform<\/a> and the future of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theusdaily.com\/articles\/viewarticle.jsp?id=1183097&amp;type=Business\">Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.<\/a> Many ideas <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/08\/18\/business\/18fannie.html?src=busln\">were discussed<\/a>, from guaranteeing all mortgage loans to eliminating all federal subsidies for homeownership, and bank executives concluded that the government should <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/money\/economy\/housing\/2010-08-17-fannie-freddie-future_N.htm\">continue to play a large role<\/a> in the sector. \u00a0It will be interesting to see what develops from the conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Speaking of <a href=\"http:\/\/mawdizzle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/fotomat.jpg\">developing<\/a>, photographs matter when selling a home.\u00a0 According to NAR, a home listing receives only a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.housingwatch.com\/2010\/08\/16\/real-estate-rich-cash-poor-struggle-to-stage-homes-for-sale\/\">three-second glance<\/a> before buyers click to the next. \u00a0Can your listing\u2019s photo grab attention in three seconds?\u00a0 If not, it could end up as one of the more than <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/developments\/2010\/08\/16\/redfin-less-than-half-of-all-home-sale-attempts-successful-in-09\/\">half of homes<\/a> put up for sale in 2009 in seven major cities that did not sell.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">And finally, it is important to know your buyer.\u00a0 If there are a lot of<a href=\"http:\/\/realestate.msn.com\/article.aspx?cp-documentid=25222556\"> first time home buyers<\/a> in your area, read what five homeowners said startled them most about the process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some slowdowns are good.\u00a0 DJ Shamantis created an internet hit this week with &#8220;U Smile 800 Percent Slower.&#8221; A rendition of pop star Justin Bieber\u2019s hit played eight times slower.
