href=\"http:\/\/www.necn.com\/08\/10\/10\/Flight-attendant-becomes-Internet-sensat\/landing.html?blockID=287537&amp;feedID=4215\">Internet sensation<\/a>, spawning a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Steven-Slater\/145469768806134#!\/pages\/Steven-Slater\/145469768806134?v=wall\">Facebook page in his honor<\/a> with 200,000 people who \u201cLike\u201d him, a hot Twitter <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#search?q=%23slater\">hashtag<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zazzle.com\/pd\/realviewpopup?url=http%3A%2F%2Frlv.zcache.com%2Fisapi%2Fdesignall.dll%3Faction%3Drealview%26pdt%3Dshirt%26pending%3Dfalse%26pid%3D235224571380831661%26rvtype%3Dproduct%26view%3Dfront_a_m_035239%26max_dim%3D734%26bg%3D0xffffff%26square_it%3Dtrue%26draw_relative_size%3Dtrue%26style%3Dbasic_tshirt_light%26color%3Dnavyblue%26size%3Da_l%26context%3Ddarren%26side_front%3Dvert%26group%3Dmens%26lifestyle%3Dclassic%26lifeStyle%3Dclassic%26drawareaboundingbox%3Dfalse%26drawsafearea%3Dfalse%26view_auto%3D1.4&amp;dim=734\">an instant cottage industry for t-shirts.<\/a> Populist lawbreakers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boldoutlaw.com\/\">are nothing new<\/a>, of course, but these digital flares do provide an interesting take on the pulse of the public.\u00a0 What can it teach us about how news travels today?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Akron may have <a href=\"http:\/\/media.ohio.com\/documents\/lebron-ad.pdf\">lost LeBron James<\/a> to the Miami Heat earlier this summer, but a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/ap\/article\/ALeqM5hzwtLJiY_vy8TnMHD2WVKYsBykywD9HHD9G82\">NAR survey<\/a> found that the spring real estate market belonged to the Ohio city, with the get any lower, Freddie Mac reports the 30-year fixed-rate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/fixed-mortgage-rates-hit-record-lows-freddie-mac-2010-08-12\">mortgage averaged 4.44%<\/a> for the week ending Aug. 12.\u00a0 Let\u2019s hope that inexpensive money and a buyer\u2019s market will help kickstart a real estate transaction spree.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In another sign of the times, the Department of Housing and Urban Development will extend <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.latimes.com\/2010\/aug\/12\/nation\/la-na-mortgage-jobless-20100812\">interest-free loans<\/a> for as much as $50,000 for up to two years to help homeowners who are at risk of foreclosure due to involuntary unemployment, underemployment or a medical condition.\u00a0 At a time when many see <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strategic_default\">strategic default<\/a> as a good option to escape debt, it is good to give people who want to honor their commitments every option to do so.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">And, in what The Wall Street Journal is calling <a title=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704388504575419992461333122.html?mod=googlenews_wsj\" href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704388504575419992461333122.html?mod=googlenews_wsj\">&#8220;affordable housing for the affluent,&#8221;<\/a> high-end vacation home developers are downsizing to accommodate the frugal mogul.\u00a0 Speaking of affordable housing, there are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/news\/politics\/war_room\/2010\/08\/13\/hud_housing_conference\">no consumer advocates<\/a> or community groups invited to next week\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/media-newswire.com\/release_1123411.html\">Conference on the Future of Housing Finance<\/a>.\u00a0 What do
