This week, it seems as if we are starting to see some solutions. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inman.com\/news\/2010\/04\/19\/a-shorter-wait-buy-after-deliquency\">Fannie Mae<\/a> is reducing the waiting period by two years for distressed borrowers to become eligible for a new mortgage. Great news for those who can take advantage! Would you like some more encouragement? Consider the March numbers\u2026 <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052702304628704575186514019189440.html\">Home mortgage rates<\/a> declined and <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748703594404575192390804879672.html\">mortgage delinquencies<\/a> fell 8.6 percent, while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/money\/economy\/housing\/2010-04-16-housing-starts_N.htm\">housing construction<\/a> posted a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/breaking-news\/ci_14897235?nclick_check=1\">better-than-expected performance.<\/a> Also, as confidence rises, companies like <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704133804575197880443992208.html?mod=WSJ_Markets_LEFTTopNews\">Redwood Trust<\/a> are backing &#8220;private label&#8221; mortgage securities, a dead zone for the last two years as banks considered them risky investments. All in all, that\u2019s what I call a good month!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We are still expecting to see a flurry of activity in the next week as the tax credit comes to an end. The <a href=\"http:\/\/rismedia.com\/2010-04-17\/as-deadline-looms-10-million-visit-tax-credit-website\/\">FederalHousingTaxCredit.com<\/a> website reached a milestone 10 million visits. Impressive! We should expect to see some of these queries turn into buyers before the end of April. But all of this good news could <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/money\/economy\/housing\/2010-04-15-home-builders-sentiment_N.htm\">start to slip<\/a>, though, in the next few months. Let\u2019s hope the interested homebuyers stay interested.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Now on to prices\u2026 Hedge-fund billionaire John Paulson believes that <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/developments\/2010\/04\/21\/john-paulson-now-bullish-on-housing\/\">house prices<\/a> could climb 8-10 percent nationwide in 2011. Perhaps leading the pack, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/money\/economy\/housing\/closetohome\/2010-04-19-close-to-home-minneapolis_N.htm\">Minneapolis housing market<\/a> has finally started to bounce back. Way to go City of Lakes!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">For those of you with clients looking to sell in the near future, I\u2019m sure you\u2019re running into difficulty getting them to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/sensible-remodels-for-a-flat-housing-market-2010-04-19\">invest in remodeling projects.<\/a> But let <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailycomet.com\/article\/20100417\/ARTICLES\/100419472\/1008?Title=52-ways-to-go-green-at-home-for-the-next-year\">Earth Day<\/a> be an inspiration: there are many cost-effective, energy efficient projects, ranging from <a href=\"http:\/\/rismedia.com\/2010-04-19\/color-trends-for-2010-back-to-basics\/\">cosmetic<\/a> to appliances, which can make a big difference.
