{"id":319,"date":"2008-09-19T20:50:10","date_gmt":"2008-09-19T20:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bhgrealestateblog.com\/?p=319"},"modified":"2024-12-30T14:51:56","modified_gmt":"2024-12-30T19:51:56","slug":"what-customer-service-looks-like-to-the-customer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bhgrecareer.com\/bebetterblog\/what-customer-service-looks-like-to-the-customer\/","title":{"rendered":"Do You Offer a Service or an Experience to Your Customers?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"small\"><span style=\"Calibri\">While making hotel reservations for an expo that I recently attended, I learned that the host hotel was booked to capacity.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>There were, however, rooms at the INN.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>Call me a snob, but convenience was the least of my requirements, and after lengthy conversation with a very helpful reservation specialist we came full circle and my reservation was made \u2026 at the INN.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>After all, I convinced myself, it was really just a place to lay my head and get a good night\u2019s sleep.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"small\"><span style=\"Calibri\">On the ride up, I imagined a shoe-box size room, no amenities, off-site dining and overall poor service.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>I arrived to find just the opposite.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>The lobby was complete with comfortable chairs and a cozy fireplace.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>The full-service restaurant was in full swing and the lounge was open.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>I was greeted by a very cordial and accommodating desk clerk who promptly processed my reservation, offered me a freshly-baked chocolate chip cookie, and called my attention to the restaurant voucher that accompanied my room key in the folio.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>I was pointed in the direction of the elevators, which were just before the indoor pool and hot tub \u2026 nice.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>And although the INN was not my first choice, I enjoyed a positive experience and I will definitely stay with them again.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"Calibri\">I was reminded of that experience again this week during our monthly agent <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bhgrealestate.com\/Views\/Careers\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"Calibri\">Skill Building Series \u2013 Create Your Brand<\/span><\/strong><\/a><span style=\"Calibri\">. Our featured speaker, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestavergroup.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"Calibri\">Mike Staver<\/span><\/a><span class=\"MsoCommentReference\"><span style=\"115%\"><span style=\"comment\"><span style=\"Calibri\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"Calibri\">, drove home the point that providing the customer with a positive service <em>experience<\/em> is different than customer service and further, that the service experience criteria is different for each customer.<span style=\"yes\"> <\/span>Mike offered three questions to consider:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"Symbol\"><span style=\"Ignore\"><span style=\"small\">\u00b7<\/span><span style=\"7pt\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"Calibri\">Does what you offer matter to the <em>particular<\/em> customer?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"Symbol\"><span style=\"Ignore\"><span style=\"small\">\u00b7<\/span><span style=\"7pt\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"Calibri\">How is <em>what you do<\/em> different?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpLast\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"Symbol\"><span style=\"Ignore\"><span style=\"small\">\u00b7<\/span><span style=\"7pt\"> <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"Calibri\">Do you help your customer feel better about their decision?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"Calibri\">Consider these truths about today\u2019s consumer: they are brand conscious and they believe that they are at the center of the universe; then ask, \u201cHow do I create positive service experiences?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<div class=\"msocomtxt\"><span style=\"costapau\"><a name=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoCommentText\" style=\"0in 0in 10pt\">\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"msocomoff\" style=\"text-align: justify\" size=\"1\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While making hotel reservations for an expo that I recently attended, I learned that the host hotel was booked to capacity.
