\nPurchases of previously owned U.S. homes unexpectedly rose in July to the highest level since February 2007, consistent with further strength in the housing market.<\/p>\n

More Single\u00a0Women Becoming First-Time Homeowners<\/a>
\nAccording to the\u00a02014 National Association of Realtors Profile of Homebuyers and Sellers, single women account for\u00a023 percent\u00a0of first-time buyers and 16 percent of repeat buyers, while single men make up\u00a015 percent of first-timers and 8 percent\u00a0of repeats.<\/p>\n

\nRealtyTrac recently released its July 2015 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, which shows a total of 124,910 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings \u2013 default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions \u2013 in July, up 7 percent from the previous month and up 14 percent from a year ago.<\/p>\n

Size of New Homes in U.S. Shrinks by One Closet<\/a>
\nThe median size of U.S. homes built in the second quarter declined from the record set in the previous quarter, suggesting builders are starting to shift toward producing more entry-level homes.<\/p>\n

\nGoogle\u2019s new tool aims to help homeowners determine if solar panels are a good fit for a home by calculating the roof\u2019s solar potential by calculating the usable sunlight per year and estimating potential energy savings.<\/p>\n
