RealtyTrac recently released data that compared its database of foreclosed homes with postal records showing whether mail was still being collected and whether change-of-address forms had been filed.\u00a0 The company took the data and came up with an estimate that 47% of the nation\u2019s foreclosed homes are currently occupied.<\/p>\n

Report: Housing Inventory Fell in September<\/a><\/p>\n

According to a report recently released by Realtor.com, the number of homes listed for sale dropped slightly in September but a growing number of housing markets are experiencing higher levels of for-sale inventory compared to last year.\u00a0 This drop is usually normal for September, as they tend to be slow as the school year begins.<\/p>\n

Home affordability sinks as housing slows<\/a><\/p>\n

As home prices and mortgage rates continue to rise, it is becoming harder and harder for the average U.S person to afford a home. According to interest.com, of the top 25 housing markets, just eight are considered \u201caffordable\u201d for a median-income household.\u00a0 However, as the market heads into a slower season, home price gains may moderate some keeping buyers attached to the market.<\/p>\n
